Our objective is to provide a vehicle for sharing recipes around the world and to have fun in the process.  NextWord is using a special version of its program ReTreeve to distribute a “free” recipe database.  Not only is the recipe database free, but the special version of ReTreeve is also free.

Joining in the fun is easy … just send an email to NextWord requesting participation.  NextWord will then send you a link to the special version of ReTreeve.  When you download and install the program you will automatically get the starting recipe database and you are on your way.  The starting RecipeTree database contains 41 recipes broken out by category as follows: Appetizers (4), Soups & Salads (3), Entrees (12), Side Dishes (8) and Desserts (14).

Using the special version of ReTreeve you can add your own recipes to the database and enjoy the ability to later search and find any of your recipes very easily.  Of course, printing a hardcopy of a recipe is also easy to do.

One of the really neat features of ReTreeve is the ability to create transfer files from branches on the recipe tree (a single recipe or an entire group of recipes … like Desserts, Seafood, etc.).  These transfer files can then be emailed to other RecipeTree users and/or emailed to NextWord for addition to the shared recipe area on the NextWord web site.

Whenever you want to help yourself to any of the shared recipes, simply go back to the NextWord web site … browse the recipes page and download any of the transfer files that have been posted.

Once you have a transfer file (received via email or downloaded from the NextWord site) the special version of ReTreeve will allow you to import the recipes into your current database.
